Horsley - Evening Light

This is a new oil painting of the Northumberland village of Horsley, looking west along the main street.

The winter sun was very low and everything was in deep shadow except where the orange glow touched the sides of the buildings.

The trick here was to keep the oranges not too high in value; they are mainly middle values but look brighter against the dark valued shadows.

It is oil on a canvas board 10 x 8 inches.
