Loaf and Knife Still life 2 is my second attempt at this kind of painting.
Bread has so much texture and subtle colour’s when you look closely but how do you try and capture this?
Again I found myself using the palette knife and my fingers to try and achieve this by dragging and pushing the paint over previous layers.
I am happy with the results though and the bread looks almost crusty!
Palette used here was titanium white, lemon yellow, cad yellow medium, yellow ochre, burnt sienna, permanent rose and ultramarine blue.
I am finding I am staring to prefer permanent rose over alizarin these days but not sure if I’ll be dropping the alizarin completely just yet.
Painting is on homemade canvas board and requires custom framing. It’s 342 x 255 mm
Requires another week to dry before being completely ready.
