Ok, so this is a different kind of painting for me. For starters it’s acrylic rather than oil. The techniques involved are decidedly different. You have to work rapidly and boldly due to the quick drying times of the acrylic paints. This is something I am not accustomed to, preferring to take my time mixing and applying the oils until I’m completely happy. However part of the fun of painting is taking on new challenges and this was certainly one of those.
The most pleasing thing about the painting is that it went completely according to plan (which is something that doesn’t always happen!). I had the idea of bright complementary colours to make the orange stand out vividly.
It is on a box canvas 12 x 12 x 0.5 inches and I will be offering it up cheaply as it didn’t take long to do.
